Friends was and still is a great commercial success in both the US and the UK. The sitcom was based in New York, centred around six young 20-somethings who were still trying to work out what they wanted in life and where it was leading. The show grew in popularity and we got to watch the group’s romantic escapades, valuable life lessons and eventually how they turned out to be.
The campaign was named 'Black Friday' and Kommando were approached direct to create and implement a campaign/ stunt which was centred around the last ever episode of Friends- broadcast exclusively on Channel 4. At the same time, Kommando were also asked to promote the start of Reality show, Big Brother.
A quirky and strategically placed sandwich board campaign helped bring in an audience of 8.6 million viewers to Channel 4 for the last ever showing.
